About Me
I earned my B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering. While I enjoy engineering and research, I’ve found that my true passion lies with teaching. During my college education, I also taught in a classroom setting and as a teaching assistant. For the past few years, I’ve taught robotics to middle and high school students during summer camp. I have tutored for many years and have over a thousand hours of tutoring experience.
Over the years, I’ve developed my own teaching philosophy. Math and science are often viewed as tougher subjects and I’ve worked with students with a wide range of background and skill. I always remind students that everyone has something to learn and that different concepts are harder for different people. I’m also flexible in my approach. Often, there can be more than one way to arrive at the correct answer, and I encourage students to approach problems in the way that makes the most sense to them as long as it doesn’t sacrifice understanding of the overall concept. Additionally, since I have pursued higher degrees in math and science, I will often ask if students are interested in pursuing math further while they are learning and can help them understand how what they are learning will be useful later. For students interested in getting through the class, I can help distill the information into what they need to pass and move on.
Overall, I believe that my passion for learning shines through in my teaching. I’m always happy to answer questions and explain concepts multiple times and in as many ways as I can think of to help students learn as well. I understand that not every student will be as passionate about math and science as I am, but I hope that they will all have at least learned what they need to succeed later in life.
Sessions
Sessions have a minimum time of one hour, though this time can be extended. Sessions generally cover what the student needs to work on immediately, following the curriculum of the class. We spend any extra time filling knowledge gaps, working through additional problems or getting ahead in the class. To facilitate sessions, students are expected to take pictures of the material they wish to cover and send them to me by text message or email before the session.
In Person
My in-person sessions are conducted either at the student’s home, my home, or a public place such as a library or coffee shop. I’m available to tutor in-person students in Beaverton, Oregon.

Reliable
Cancellations from me are rare. Once we determine a session time, I will honor that time and be prepared and available.
Preparation
I request that students send photos by text or email of what they want to work on beforehand. This allows me to be prepared with any additional information or resources necessary for making sure the session goes smoothly. This also helps students be prepared and ready to work when we meet.
Experience
I’ve worked with students over a wide range of skill. I’ve worked with students who have special needs. I’ve worked with students excited to learn math and others who hate math and just want to get through the class. I’m responsive and will use my experience to help me learn and work with a new student to help them accomplish their goals.
Communication
I’m available by text or email 24/7 and I try to respond promptly or within a few hours. I send session notes over what I’ve covered with students to parents via email or text. Online students also have access to pdf copies of our session notes.

Review Classes
These classes are designed for students who already have some familiarity with the material and would like a quick review. Typical concepts and examples of session breakdowns are included below. However, if there is specific material that a student would like to cover, that can also be accommodated. It is expected that students will work review problems in between classes to help cement the concepts. Disclaimer: These are NOT complete and comprehensive reviews, merely a brief refresher.
